Design Your Own earrings

If you're hoping to create a replica of a single lost earring (to match the one that remains), we can absolutely do this. We always caution that a newly created piece, no matter how precisely designed, will often differ a bit from the original. So we often recommend creating a new pair from the one remaining earring, to ensure a perfectly matched set that carries the inspiration of the original.

Consider shape proportions not only for the earrings, but how they relate to the person wearing them.

When René died at the peak of his popularity in 1917, his wife Jeanne continued his legacy with aplomb, bringing their daughter, Germaine Boivin, and a small group of trusted designers into the fold over the next three decades. From the mid-1920s to 1940s, the house of René Boivin produced some of its most remarkable creations, supported by designers Suzanne Belperron and Juliette Moutard. This is the era of the René Boivin Starfish with cabochon and pavé-set gemstone bodies, as well as gem-encrusted animals, floral blooms and trees. Plus, like the color of the buds, I think the unique shape serves to catch the eye of anyone in the vicinity. I purposely kept the case visible when possible while testing the Ear A over the past couple of weeks and, though no one asked me about them outright, I definitely noticed some looks. The new, glossy plastic (the shiny material was a necessary shift given the color of the buds) really reflects when out in the sun, which is perfect for anyone wanting to show the Ear A off. Founding his Parisian atelier in the 1890s, René Boivin set himself and the house of Boivin apart from his contemporaries with a bold aesthetic that drew inspiration from flora and fauna. His daring approach challenged the conventions of traditional Art Nouveau forms and techniques. The upcoming Luxury Week sales in Geneva will include a single-owner collection showcasing the finest examples of Boivin jewelry to come to market in recent years.

The new wireless earbuds are bright; they’re bold; they’re completely and utterly yellow. Yellow gold was the go-to precious metal for René Boivin, whether worn alone or combined with hardstones and faceted gems. This golden warmth was often accented with citrine, rubies, emeralds and aquamarines that verge on pastel tones. Necklaces were tight to the throat in the choker style, sometimes with pendants, strings of beads or pearls, and its earrings were typically curvaceous and scooped around the earlobe.

At $100 (as opposed to the Ear’s $150 price tag), the Ear A may occupy the lower end of the price spectrum for Nothing’s new generation of wireless earbuds, but from a sound quality perspective, it’s bringing a lot to the table. Any list of the most iconic fine jewelry houses of the early 20th century must include René Boivin. The man was born in 1864 in Paris, and by the 1890s, he had established himself as an accomplished jeweler and skilled engraver with several self-named workshops.

This is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to designing earrings you’ll love to wear.

Consider the sister duo behind Agmes, known for their sculptural pieces, their jewelry is easily future heirlooms in the making. Or Repossi, where Gaia Repossi has continued her family’s legacy of creating timeless, architectural jewelry that can easily stand on its own. To make my easy DIY earrings, you’ll need a few basic tools that I have listed in my materials. You can find them online (I link to everything I use) or pick them up in your local craft store. Then I’ll guide you through the simple steps for how to assemble and finish your pair of earrings with French hooks, so you can wear your gorgeous creations all autumn long.

And don’t forget, classic hoop earrings are a style staple for a reason—they can be worn to work, to dinner, and beyond. Or for a twisted, alternative take on the silhouette, Bottega Veneta’s Inreccio yellow gold earrings are a must for everyday wear. Whether you consider yourself a modern-day minimalist or prefer more maximalist details, simple and sophisticated earrings help add a layer of elegance to one’s ensemble.

The fact of the matter is, if you want one foot in your surroundings, you can turn ANC off, or (most likely) take an earbud out. And if this is a hugely important factor for you, there are buds that offer a blended approach to wireless audio, but they aren’t made by Nothing. While the bright yellow, glossy, plastic catches the eye, the actual shape — a more oblong rectangle — fits nicely in the hand and slides in and out of my pocket with ease.

Some will drop your dangle below the jaw line and others will hold it up tight near your lobe. And if you have a prominent angle to your design, this can determine which earring you wear in your left ear and which in your right – as you decide whether your angles should flow with the jaw line or away from it. Design elements, including the lack of elements, should have a cohesive plan. Well balanced designs allow the eye to move throughout the set as opposed to one area stealing the spotlight.

Though the Ear can take advantage of features like Nothing’s personalized sound profile, which tailors the buds’ sound to your specific hearing, the Ear A doesn’t support that feature. Likewise, Ear A users won’t have access to advanced EQ in the Nothing X app. For me, these are far from dealbreakers, but for someone who gets really granular about their listening experience, it’s a difference worth considering. Then there’s the (again, very minor) wobble of the case’s pairing button, which tends to wiggle around inside the hole where it rests. To me, and Nothing’s design team, the Ear A exudes confidence — and rightfully so. Without the driving need to secure new customers, Madame René Boivin was largely able to ignore the prevailing trend for Art Deco and continue to set her style.

And others simply don’t have that much space from their earlobe to their shoulders. Therefore, it’s important to understand the size and scale that works for you. If the components you are using to make your earrings are individually symmetrical, then you can simply make 2 of the same and you’ll have a fabulously matched pair.

But, when we’re thinking about earrings, the goal is to adorn and help frame the face. The easiest way to figure out how much your earrings will cost is to start a consultation with us and let our team know what you're looking for. Whether you're trying to recreate a lost heirloom, looking for bridal earrings to perfectly match your rings, or just searching for the perfect gift, there are no more perfect earrings than the ones you'll design with our artists. Make your purchase meaningful with earrings designed and created just for you.

Our team of artists design pieces just for you, and we'll tweak the details until you say it's perfect. Click here to see more design earrings with free shipping included. A short pixie cut or an up-do offer a showcase for fabulous earrings to be the star of the show. While long hair tends to cover your earrings, which could drive you to choose materials that contrast with your hair color to help them pop. Or, for mid-range lengths, like a bob, where your hair just covers your ears, you may choose to make earrings that will dangle below your hairline. Be sure to consider how the earring’s shape interacts with the line of your jaw.

Lin told me that working with color was a bit of adjustment for Nothing and its designers, and admittedly, I do have a couple of minor gripes with the Ear A that could be the result of that learning curve. One of them is that the right earbud doesn’t sit completely flush inside my charging case, which causes it to wobble slightly when it’s slotted in. The wiggle isn’t the biggest issue in the world, but it does stand in contrast to the premium Ear or Ear 2 buds, which fit completely snug once they’re magnetically snapped into the case. Take the Ear A, Nothing’s replacement for the original Ear 1 wireless earbuds that put the tech startup on the map just a few years ago.

Style Guide: Ornamental Tattooing

The image of Jesus on the cross represents faith and sacrifice, while the grim reaper symbolizes mortality. This tattoo can symbolize the eternal struggle between good and evil, life and death, and the hope of salvation. This tattoo design combines multiple elements to create a moving tribute to faith.

The artist has used brown and black ink to give it a realistic effect. One can go ahead and customize it too with other powerful themes, for example, the parables to Beatitudes. You can represent different kinds of Jesus like him as a carpenter or a prophet or the Son of Man which would look great on the biceps. If you want you can also go for a 3D design on your biceps only because it is a visible area of your body and such a design would be worth it. Even the cross or the crown of thorns would look pretty great in a 3D style format.

This forearm tattoo features a serene yet sombre Jesus Christ with a radiant halo, a symbol of His sacredness and divine wisdom. The soft grey tones in the portrait highlight the intricate details and thoughtful expression, making it a realistic Jesus tattoo that communicates depth and spirituality. A remarkably realistic Jesus face tattoo adorns the back of the hand, encircled by a halo that signifies divinity and holiness. Below the portrait, bold lettering across the fingers spells out a personal or sacred message, adding a layer of individual meaning to the Jesus tattoo.

Using what few materials they had in prison, or barrios dotting the landscape of LA, artists drew inspiration directly from their own life experiences. Inmates would use pure ingenuity to piece together a homemade tattoo machine and, using only the black or blue ink they had available to them, depict that which they knew best. Like most people who are enamored with the art of tattooing, this craft was used as a way to own the body, express the self, and show affinity for the things that were held closest.

Christ and Lamb Tattoo Design

If you are looking to get a masterpiece, the best advice is always to go for the back because it provides the most amount of space. This is undoubtedly the best piece of canvas, which unfortunately can not be seen by our own eyes. It provides a great space for people who want something realistic and elaborative for their tattoo design. If you feel that you are propelled to draw the teachings of Jesus which can not be covered on the whole body, the back is a great place to start. As a true sense of faith and devotion that Jesus’s tattoos signified, it proves your commitment to God. It also symbolizes the profound belief in the power of the Lord and the promise of eternal life in the realms of heaven.

This Jesus tattoo design has a lot of elements going on and it looks quite enticing because of the hyperrealism that is shown in the tattoo design. Done with bold patterns right across the chest, this beautiful Jesus and Mary design along with a while dove right at the center call for an epic revelation. This tattoo can be made by women as well as men but this tattoo is mostly common to African people or dark-skinned people to remind themself that they too are god’s children.

He has been revered as a god wand instead of his thorned crown now sits a beautiful jeweled crown. This design is reminiscent of all the good deeds of Jesus and reminds one of how living a virtuous life would benefit mankind. This is a great tattoo of Jesus with hands joined as if to pray to the lord in the heavens. Here, Jesus’ face is not visible because it is probably the aftermath of the crucifixion. We have seen a similar design before but this one has been further improvised.

Art Collector Tattoo is a tattoo shop that serves customers in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Its owner and artist, Nik Lucas, has been in the tattoo industry for more than nine years. He specializes in trash polka, abstract, and color, black, and gray realism. One of Nik's previous clients praised him for being able to conceal the old burn scars he got as an infant with a tattoo. The ship is slightly newer than Carnival Elation but has slightly lower gross tonnage. It is part of the Fantasy class and sailed its inaugural cruise on December 6, 1998. Carnival Paradise underwent a dry dock in October 2023 and is fully updated with all the latest Carnival features. The first in her class, Carnival Spirit, was built in Finland to sail through the Panama Canal and offer a cruising experience not only in the Caribbean but also on other continents.

What does gross registered tonnage mean?

The Carnival Vista has a construction date of 2016 and a total size of 133,500 gross tons. The ship measures 1,055 feet (322 meters) in length and falls in line as number 7 among Carnival's 26 active cruise ships. That includes 4,977 cruise vacationers and 1,450 staff members. The Carnival Horizon has a construction date of 2018 and a total size of 133,500 gross tons.

This often takes place when a vessel needs to go to a European shipyard for an overhaul. Indeed, if you're going on a Carnival cruise, the odds are you're driving to the ship, not flying, and you're probably not paying much more than you would for a trip to a local beach town. Conquest sails to the Bahamas and the Caribbean from Florida. With a variety of specialty restaurants, seafood shacks, brewhouses, smokehouses, snack stops, and more, Carnival Horizon has restaurants for all foodies. With a humongous IMAX with 3D visuals and motion effects, the Carnival Horizon features a two-screen Carnival Multiplex. Dr. Suess WaterWorks, Skyride, and The Punchliner Comedy Club are places to relax for people of all ages.

Width, often called the beam, varies considerably but can surpass 100 feet for larger vessels, facilitating stability and space for onboard amenities. The wonder of engineering that is Royal Caribbean‘s Wonder of the Seas stretches to a beam of 210 feet. Height is less frequently discussed but equally remarkable; mega-ships can tower above the waterline. However, I often consider more than the total cost before booking a cruise.

This ship contains 2,747 staterooms and can accommodate 5,000 guests simultaneously. Suites are equipped with floor-to-ceiling screens and are elaborately furnished. The ship has a Vanity Spa, Casino Royale, Splashaway Bay Waterslide for children, a royal theater, aqua theater, 10 jacuzzis, and four swimming pools. These types of ships are only able to dock at larger, well-trafficked ports. There are a wide variety of restaurants available, ranging from fast food to five-star cuisine. The overall environment is intimate because there are fewer guests.

The ship underwent a major dry dock upgrade in February 2023. The Carnival vessel is also a Spirit-class cruise ship, but slightly larger. In September 2022, Carnival Luminosa was transferred to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet from sister brand Costa Cruises. Even though she is now part of the fleet, there are still Italian-inspired venues onboard, and you won’t find popular venues like Guy’s Burger Joint.

Drinks brought on board must be carried in your carry-on luggage. Carnival allows you to bring one bottle of wine or Champagne per person onto ships at boarding plus up to a dozen standard cans or cartons of nonalcoholic drinks such as sodas. The social and value plans cost $18 and $23 per day, respectively, when bought onboard a ship. Other popular venues found on some Carnival ships include RedFrog Pub, which serves up Carnival's tasty housemade beers on tap, as well as plenty of other choices. Every Carnival ship has a casino, usually smack in the middle of the main entertainment deck.

That includes 2,826 cruise vacationers and 1,050 staff members. The Carnival Sunrise has a construction date of 1999 and a total size of 101,509 gross tons. The ship measures 893 feet (272 meters) in length and falls in line as number 19 among Carnival's 26 active cruise ships.

With regards to the number of passengers, it has the same passenger capacity as the Liberty at 2,974. With their massive size and grandeur, Carnival Cruise Ships provide a spacious and comfortable environment for guests to enjoy. From the vast array of dining options to the thrilling water parks and exciting entertainment offerings, there’s something to delight every traveler. Carnival Cruise Line offers an exceptional vacation experience through its impressive fleet of ships, diverse itineraries, and abundance of onboard amenities and activities. From the moment you step on board, you’ll find yourself immersed in a world of luxury, entertainment, and relaxation. From educational and adventurous activities to relaxation and entertainment, Carnival Cruise Ships provide a wide range of onboard activities to keep guests engaged and entertained.

Carnival Cruise Line guide: Everything to know about ships, itineraries and more

how big is a carnival cruise ship

The cruise ship can host a maximum of 6,500 passengers and 1,735 crew. The average cruise boat is 1000 feet long and holds approximately 3000 passengers. Different cruise lines offer various types and classes of ships that can vary in size. The most critical aspect of choosing a cruise ship size is deciding what you want out of your cruise and selecting the most appropriate size for your trip.

Conquest Class

Plus there’s a wide variety of dining options, including BlueIguana Cantina for burritos and tacos, Guy’s Burger Joint, and some exciting bars for the grown-ups to try. Carnival Elation sails out of Jacksonville and offers Bahamas cruises. There are outdoor sports activities, water slides, casual and speciality restaurants with choices galore, kids’ clubs, adults-only relaxation spaces and more. She sails out of Galveston, offering cruises to the Caribbean.

Carnival Conquest Class

We’ve also included a description of each ship, so if you’re not fully familiar with the cruise line, you can find out more. The smallest Carnival cruise ship is Carnival Elation, the line's second-oldest vessel. At 71,909 gross tons, it carries just 2,190 passengers — less than half the amount accommodated on ships in Carnival's Excel class. Carnival's smallest, active cruise ship is the Carnival Paradise with a gross tonnage measuring 70,367. The smallest ship that has sailed with the cruise line was significantly smaller. The original Carnival Mardi Gras (built in 1961) was 1/3rd the size, at 18,261 GT.

What Was the Size of Former Carnival Ships?

Modern cruise ships are generally larger than the Titanic (to the surprise of many movie-lovers). Although the Titanic was the largest ship built at the time of its launch, modern ships have surpassed it in size. Cruise ships will likely continue to grow because they offer more options for passengers and the potential for more profit for cruise ship companies. A larger ship means more amenities and activities to do on board and room to hold more paying customers. The average size of a new cruise ship is more than double that of an average boat built during the 1990s. Some cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean, continue to develop significantly larger vessels as they update their fleets.

Cruises

The first Excel class Carnival cruise ship has a gross tonnage of 181,808, slightly less than the other two in the same class. However, the total capacity, length, and number of decks remain the same. There are various types of cruise ships ranging in size and functions. With nearly 30 million cruise passengers yearly (pre-COVID), companies want to provide vessels that have something for everyone.

But don’t let the numbers fool you; this ship is packed with high-energy activities for all ages; from the kid's clubs to the casino, there’s no lack of fun to be had. Sailings range from two to nine days out of Port Canaveral, so you can get a taste of what a cruise is like without committing to a more traditional weeklong sailing. Expect an onboard brewery, incredible restaurants, and family-friendly fun. Carnival Mardi Gras is a nod to Carnival’s first ship, also named Mardi Gras, which was launched in 1972. The vessel has six onboard zones where families can have fun together, including the Ultimate Playground, where BOLT and the SportsSquare are located.

Whether you use a travel agent or not, make sure to maximize your credit card points when paying for the cruise by using a credit card that offers extra points for travel purchases. This could be the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which offers 3 Ultimate Rewards points on travel and dining (excluding the annual $300 travel credit). There's also the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, which brings 2 Ultimate Rewards points on travel and 3 Ultimate Rewards points on dining. In other words, if you are sailing seven-night cruises, you will be Gold level on your fourth sailing, as you will be passing the 25-day mark on that sailing. In addition, vessels offer extra-charge laundry and, on select ships, dry cleaning services. BlueIguana is a Chipotle-style restaurant, with yummy made-to-order burritos and tacos.

Each ship is designed with a unique theme and offers a variety of onboard activities, dining options, and entertainment choices. From world-class spas and top-notch restaurants to water parks and thrilling waterslides, Carnival Cruise ships have it all. Welcome to the world of cruising, where adventure, relaxation, and luxury come together on the high seas. Among the leading cruise lines, Carnival Cruise Line stands out for its vibrant atmosphere, exceptional service, and a wide range of activities and entertainment options. If you’re considering a cruise vacation with Carnival, you might be wondering about the size of their ships. When we break down cruise ships by size, we must be mindful as to what size we are referring to.

Interior Staterooms

Most vessels have standard North American-style, 110-volt outlets in rooms, as well as European-style, 220-volt outlets. A slightly more expensive "value" plan, at $19.55 per day when bought in advance, adds access to email and most websites. Carnival adds an automatic service gratuity of $16 to $18 per person, per day to final bills, depending on the cabin category (children under the age of 2 are exempt). If you are unhappy with the service you receive, you can adjust this amount at the Guest Services desk before disembarking. Also, an 18% gratuity is added to bar bills and the cover charge of the Chef's Table.

Venice is the inspiration behind the indoor and outdoor areas, including the atrium, modeled after Piazza San Marco, and the Carnevale Lounge, inspired by Venetian masquerades. Don't miss the Venetian Toast, where the ship’s captain greets guests and crew don Venetian masks. Before committing to a cruise, I break down the price per person per night, particularly if I need multiple cabins because I'm traveling with a group. When I select a sailing, I book through Carnival Cruise Line’s reservation number to see if I can snag an exclusive deal not listed online. Carnival's free-to-join loyalty program, the Very Important Fun Person (VIFP) Club, offers deals like reduced deposits, onboard credit, and room upgrades. The more you book with the cruise line, the better your deals will be.

These vessels tend to draw people who are younger or with families. Popular spots will be flooded with people, so crowds should be expected while docking at ports, as well as at pools, spas, and one-time events such as shows and performances. Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas made its first voyage in 2016, which made it the third ship in the Quantum-class. This ship has 16 decks (14 guest decks) and 2,091 staterooms.

The WaterWorks aqua park promises endless aquatic fun, while the Excel suites offer an elevated experience with exclusive Loft 19 access. Carnival’s Excel-class ships are 35% larger than the next biggest ships in the fleet. They’re made with the same hull design as other Carnival-owned ships like P&O Cruises Arvia and Iona, AIDAnova and AIDAcosma and Costa Smeralda and Toscana. Most onboard activities such as shows and deck-top attractions are included in the fare. In general, Carnival ships are among the most affordable at sea. It's not uncommon to find Carnival voyages to the Caribbean, Bahamas or Mexico starting well under $100 per person, per night including all taxes and fees — at least in the offseason.

I've sailed the most on Carnival Elation since the ship sails from my hometown of Jacksonville. And because the ship is so small, it's easy to navigate, and I always end up making friends with the delightful crew onboard. The cruise ship has a gross tonnage of 110,000 and is 953 feet or 290 m long. The cruise ship has 13 decks, carrying 2,980 passengers and 1,150 crew. Royal Caribbean separates its cruise ships into different classes. The vessels in each Royal Caribbean class will be of similar size and offer passengers a similar experience.

At full capacity, the Carnival Legend holds 3,540 passengers. The Carnival Pride has a construction date of 2002 and a total size of 88,500 gross tons. The ship measures 963 feet (294 meters) in length and falls in line as number 22 among Carnival's 26 active cruise ships. That includes 2,680 cruise vacationers and 910 staff members.
